Do you guys know the difference between people who talk about “Doing It” and people like you who actually “Do It”?  The difference is the people that do it are actually DOING IT!!!  My hats off to all of you for sticking to your goals, fighting through the pain, and not settling for anything less than absolute success.  Ask almost any graduate of the 5K101 5K training program and most will probably tell you just how much they surprised themselves by their own achievements.

We can do anything we set our minds to.  We acknowledge in advance there will be setbacks, our legs will hurt, and we will bomb some workouts; but every workout conquered is a major victory…and all the motivation we need to attack the next challenge.
Based on the Facebook chatter, it looks like we just got a wave of new recruits.  If you are just starting out, you have 8 short battles ahead of you.  I want you to focus on finding the right mindset before you hit the road for the first time.  Just before bed tonight, I want you to find a quiet place where you can be alone.  Focus on your goal.  Close your eyes and visualize yourself crossing the finish line of your 5K.  Banish all negative thoughts you have about your current physical condition, your weight, your looks, your whatever.  This kind of thinking serves absolutely no purpose and is a complete waste of your time.  All that stuff is who you were, so focus that energy on who you’re going to be. Don’t think for a second that you can’t do it because you absolutely CAN!  I promise I will NEVER give up on you.  The other trainees and graduates of 5K101 will NEVER give up on you.  All you have to do now is promise that you will NEVER give up on yourself. Have you ever heard the story of Paul Potts?  Paul was not exactly what mainstream society would consider a “winner”.  The guy’s a little overweight and not the most attractive guy out there.  As a kid he was bullied by his classmates, and stated that torment lead to a strong lack of self confidence.  All his life he loved to sing and found solace in that.  He was actually pretty good too.  He competed in a few different contests when he was older and won a little money as a result, but for whatever reason, he had not pursued his passion much further and Paul ended up working at a mobile phone store in the UK. In 2007, Paul decided to audition for a new reality talent show called Britain’s Got Talent.  He was clearly nervous, and who wouldn’t be with Simon Cowell at the helm?  Watch the short video below, and when you do, consider where you are right now and the challenge you are facing.  Paul faced his Giant and came out a winner.  You will too.
